Mga Kuwentong Maranao is one of Frank Rivera's timeless plays, performed by the reputable Sining Kambayoka of Marawi's Mindanao State University. Rivera opens the book with an exciting historical account of his journey in Marawi where he established himself as a prolific playwright, organizing one of the country's oldest and most established theatre groups. Within the backdrop of an increasingly suppressive Marcos regime, Rivera wrote and mounted the political satire Mga Kuwentong Maranao, which infuses Maranao artistic tradition such as the "bayok" (chant) and characters from Maranao tales, with commentaries on contemporary political situation. Mga Kuwentong Maranao was to become one of Sining Kambayoka's longest-running plays and continues to be performed today.
